Been going out rafting with Otter Rafting Adventures for almost 30 years. They sure know how to give you your monies worth and a great time to boot!!The food - the fun - the water - the white water - the guides! And if you want to know even more about the river ask the owner! He knows everything there is to know about the Upper Red Deer River. He should - he's been doing this for 37 years already he told me!Everything is clean and organized and I enjoy visiting the gallery too before getting on the bus and after coming back. Otter Rafting Adventures is the BEST white water rafting company I've ever been rafting with. They obviously do it because they love their guests having a great time and to see them end their rafting day with huge smiles on their faces!
Excellent Day on the River. I rafted with them about 15 years ago as a teen and got to take my daughter for her first time ever. The guides are exceptional in every way, they truly love their jobs. Excellent shore lunch. I have recommended Otter Rafting many many times. Excellent and professional!
BEWARE: The Guide on my trip decided to play a game where everyone on the raft stands up while each person on the Raft would try to get up on the rim of the Raft and see if they could run all the way around the Raft without falling. WELL the first 12 yr. old made it. Then he tried to get someone else to do it. We all looked at each other, NO WAY. So the Guide said he would do it. As he got to the Bow of the boat he fell inward on top of everyone and I was the unlucky guy at the Stern. Well I then had 6 people piled on top of me. That was bad enough but my Calve was pined against the equipment box and with the weight of 6 people my Calve was severely injured. I asked the owner David to pay the small medical bill of $202. He gave it to his Insurance Co. They denied the claim due to the WAVIER YOU SIGNED. I was not Suing him I just thought a GOOD business owner would have taken care of it.
It was my first time going rafting so I had no idea what to expect. Of course that day was cold and raining (mid July). We followed the email, bringing proper clothing, and looking forward to the morning coffee they mentioned before being given all our gear and heading out. Small things leave a big impression with me. We paid $105 per person for a half day, wet suit rental, and gst. When we arrived at the building, I saw that you had to pay for coffee and water. I would like to think that after paying that kind of money, they could offer complimentary beverages to their customers...As it was freezing, they recommended gloves when we got there. No warning before hand. Of course they don't include that in the equipment they offer to you....you're expected to buy a pair for $22. Again, I felt that this should be part of the fee....they're special gloves that would never be used again. Just include them for customers if the day happens to be cold. Luckily, our guide offered out a couple pairs once we were already on the raft. Thank god, because my hands were already white and freezing. Other than those small annoyance though, and the weather, it was a good experience. Our guide was experienced and I felt safe with him guiding our raft. We had a close call in our group with someone falling in at a not-so-safe spot, and he acted quickly and competently. Overall it was a fun time! I would recommend this company/trip but don't expect any extras with what you pay.
Beautiful pottery! ( and one very adorable cat))
